Over 30 000 athletes from around the world descended upon Cape Town for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Weekend on 14 and 15 April 2017.
The weekend began with a series of Trail and Fun Runs on Friday the 14th of April and concluded with the Ultra and Half Marathons on Saturday, 15th April.
The Old Mutual Two Oceans 12km and 24km Trail Runs started at the University of Cape Town and took runners along the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak and adjacent forests, including varied terrain with steep ascents and technical descents.
Jeep Team SA’s elite OCR athlete, Carina Marx, and trail runner, Christiaan Greyling, tackled the challenging 24km Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Run.
Marx finished 13th in her age category in a time of 03:12:02. She said, “I had a wonderful race every step of the way, finishing with a 10-minute improvement on last years’ time.”
Greyling, running his 5th Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Run (24km), ran alongside his wife, Landie Greyling. The pair crossed the finish line in 02:27:28, earning Landie a 2nd place finish in her age category.
